An Opioid Treatment Program or OTP is typically an outpatient level facility or mobile unit that treats patients who meet criteria for Opioid Use Disorder: Moderate or Severe.
OTPs vary in scope and may include a combination of clinical services and dispensing of pharmacotherapies such as Methadone for patients who are not yet stable.
Methadone is currently the Best Practice medication for treating patients who are dependent on Fentanyl which is the most widely used, readily accessible, and deadly illicit opioid available.
