Meet our Registered Dietitian

Allison Henrie, MS, RD, LD, CDCES – Certified Diabetes Education Care Specialist

The background is plain and softly lit, highlighting her friendly expression.Allison Henrie is a Registered Dietitian with over 28 years of experience as a Community and Clinical Dietitian specializing in Diabetes. She was awarded the Indian Health Services Scholarship grant to compete her education and to become a Registered Dietitian. Allison holds a Master’s degree in nutrition sciences and a certification as a Certificate Diabetes Care Education Specialist.

Outside of work Allison enjoys being a Reiki Master and is committed to helping others. She is also an enrolled member of the Grand River Bands of Ottawa Indians.

The Ko-Kwel Wellness Center have been a recipient of the Special Diabetes Program for Indians (SDPI) grant. The Online Catalog is a great resource to download patient handouts.

The Ko-Kwel Wellness Center has received the American Diabetes Association (ADA) Education Recognition for our Diabetes Services. Our Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME) program implements the National Standards of Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support.

Learning About Diabetes, Inc., is a non-profit charity providing free, easy-to-understand diabetes care information in a number of languages. A special interest is using art and design in novel ways that help those with diabetes better understand and manage their care.

The Ko-Kwel Wellness Center has achieved CDC Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) Preliminary Recognition.

The CDC DPP (National Diabetes Prevention Program) is a nationwide initiative designed to help people with prediabetes or at risk for Type 2 Diabetes make lifestyle changes that can prevent or delay the disease. It’s a structured program focused on healthy eating, physical activity, and weight management, proven to reduce diabetes risk significantly.
