Your role and some expectations

As a provider partnering with our Opioid Treatment Program (OTP), your collaboration is essential in supporting the recovery journey of individuals affected by opioid use disorder (OUD). Together, we can make a significant impact. Here’s how you can help:

How You Can Support Patients:

  • Collaborative Care: Work closely with our team to provide integrated and comprehensive care. Share insights and coordinate treatment plans to ensure holistic support.
  • Medication-Assisted Therapy: Advocate for and facilitate access to medication-assisted therapy (MAT) for patients. Educate patients about the benefits and options available.
  • Resource Sharing: Connect patients with additional resources such as mental health services, social support, and community programs. Ensure they have access to a wide range of support.
  • Stigma Reduction: Promote understanding and compassion within your practice and the community. Help reduce stigma by educating others about OUD and recovery.
  • Policy Advocacy: Engage in efforts to influence policies that improve access to treatment and support services. Collaborate with local and national organizations to promote beneficial legislation.

Expectations for Providers:

  • Empathy and Compassion: Approach every interaction with empathy and a non-judgmental attitude. Foster trust and openness with patients.
  • Confidentiality: Uphold patient confidentiality and privacy in accordance with legal and ethical standards. Handle all patient information with care and discretion.
  • Professionalism: Maintain professionalism in all collaborative efforts. Stay informed about the latest developments in OUD treatment and advocacy.
  • Effective Communication: Use strong communication skills to convey information and advocate for patients’ needs. Listen actively to understand their concerns.
  • Commitment to Continuous Learning: Engage in ongoing education and training to enhance your skills and knowledge about OUD. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices.
