Opioid Treatment Program Under Development

The Ko-Kwel Wellness Centers (KWC) are in phase one of implementing an Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) to address the urgent need for comprehensive addiction treatment services in Lane County. Completion of the Program is estimated for May 2025, contingent on regulatory approval and construction timelines. The KWC OTP is committed to providing safe, traditional and culturally meaningful treatment to our KWC patients.

The KWC OTP is an Outpatient level Opioid Use Disorder Treatment Program that will offer services six days a week Monday through Saturday. The KWC OTP will provide evidence-based medication assisted therapy (MAT), utilizing the FDA-approved medication, methadone. Medications are offered concurrently with Behavioral Health supports including Individual and Group Counseling, Peer Support and Treatment Planning to effectively treat the whole person.

The KWC OTP operations will focus on tailoring services to be culturally informed, ensuring Tribal members, their families, and the Lane County community receive the specialized support necessary for their recovery and well-being. This will be where individuals seeking treatment and community come to receive the support and individualized care needed in a Trauma Informed environment.

KWC’s core objectives are set on the establishment and management of an OTP that effectively responds to the opioid epidemic in a culturally meaningful and patient centered way. A range of programming and services will be offered in support of the program’s established goals:

  • Provide Trauma Informed and Evidenced Based Treatment
  • Reduce Illicit Opioid Use
  • Reduce Opioid related Overdose and Death
  • Increase Public Health
  • Reduce Recovery Barriers
  • Provide Comprehensive Care
  • Ensure Cultural Sensitivity
  • Promote Empowerment and Long-Term Recovery
  • Compliance with Regulatory Standards
